TWG Tea (TWG Tea 自由が丘) is a Singaporean tea shop with several branches in Japan. The one in Jiyūgaoka was their first shop in Japan and has a tea salon attached. Like other tea shops that sell high-quality tea leaves, TWG Tea’s packaging is sophisticated, making it a good option for both gifts and personal use. In particular, their tea tins are perfect decor that will make your home more elegant-looking.
Through the glass door, you can see TWG Tea’s classic yellow tea canisters and colorfully packaged products. You will be amazed when you see a large part of the shop’s wall covered by the sheer number of canisters. Each contains a different type of tea. The tea shop sources around 260 kinds of tea from various countries, including India, Sri Lanka (also known as Ceylon), Nepal, China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and South Africa. Various tea blends and caffeine-free tea are also available.
Although the number of choices TWG Tea offers is overwhelming, you will surely find the ones that suit you. The staff will help you select the type of tea that suits your tea-drinking habits and the occasion for which you are making tea. Among the options suggested by the staff, you can then decide which one to purchase based on its aroma.
TWG Tea Jiyugaoka’s Tea Salon
The European-themed interior is decorated with paintings, mirrors, and flower arrangements. Adding the soothing, tranquil background music, the tea salon is a wonderful place to enjoy delicious cakes and tea. Once you are seated, you will notice a small glass container containing a white cylinder. Like Royal Crystal Coffee, it is a hand towel. It will grow in size as water is poured over it!
If you are unsure what to order to accompany the tea, how about some scones? Rather than fruit jam, TWG Tea offers tea jam. It has an excellent balance of sweetness and refreshing flavor. The scones also come with fresh cream that goes perfectly with the jam. Besides tea jam, TWG Tea also has several tea-infused sweets!
