Kojima Jeans Bus (児島ジーンズバス)
If you like denim, the Kojima District in Okayama Prefecture is a must-visit destination for you. The denim decoration surrounds you as soon as you get to Kojima Station (児島駅). But, the denim decorations don’t just stop at the vending machines, the coin-operated lockers, or the ticket gates at the station. It continues all the way to the bus departing from JR Kojima Station!

About Kojima Jeans Bus (児島ジーンズバス)
It isn’t just the exterior of the bus that is advertising the denim in Kojima. The curtains, seat cushions, and basically everywhere you can think of, contain denim elements.
You might even find a pair of jeans attached to the bus ceiling!

Where to Catch the Jeans Bus and the Jeans Bus’s Operating Hours
This extraordinary bus is sadly not operating daily but from Friday to Sunday and on public holidays only (also not operating from the end of December to the beginning of January). But the great thing is you can catch the bus from JR Kurashiki Station (倉敷駅)! So after you stop at Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, hop on this bus to continue your exploration of Kurashiki City in Kojima!

To board the bus from JR Kurashiki Station, please queue at bus stop no. 6. If you are catching a JR train to JR Kojima Station, please wait at bus stop no. 5.
Kojima Jeans Bus’s Bus Fare
- It will cost you 170 yen per ride for anyone who is over the age of 12 (90 yen for elementary school students)
- There is also a One-Day Bus Pass (ジーンズのまち児島 バス一日乗車券) which you can purchase from the bus driver.
- The cost is 620 yen for adults (310 yen for elementary school students)
- This one-day bus pass will not only allow you to board the Kojima Jeans Bus unlimitedly but also the below bus lines. Note the below services depart from bus stop no. 4 from JR Kojima Station instead.
- Fureai-Gō (ふれあい号) – The bus that will bring you to Kojima Student Uniform Museum (児島学生服資料館) for a cosplay session
- Tokohai-Gō (とこはい号) – The bus that will take you to Mt. Washu and its summit Shōshūhō (鐘秀峰), for the spectacular view of Seto Ōhashi Bridge (瀬戸大橋)
- Ojigadake Line (王子ヶ岳) – The bus that you can catch to hike Mt. Ōjigatake (王子ヶ岳). For more details, please refer to our Tamano City article!

There are a couple more attractions in Kojima District that you might want to stop by. Kojima, Japan’s denim mecca, has an area called Kojima Jeans Street that is filled with jeans-related decorations. Whether you are interested in shopping or not, it is just fascinating to see how the Japanese bring advertisement to the next level!
Moreover, if you love cycling, you can visit Mt. Washu by renting a bicycle from Kojima Station and cycling through the 6.3 km Kaze no Michi that goes past Shōshūhō!
There is also a Kojima Student Uniform Museum for you for a cosplay session in various types of Japanese uniforms!

Visit the Venice of Japan: Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter
Before you head to Shōshūhō for the stunning scenery, how about visiting the little Venice of Japan first?
Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter (Kurashiki Bikan Chiku, 倉敷美観地区) is a historic area consisting of classical Japanese architecture mainly with few exceptions.
